Ah, the Cotswolds in April. A time when the honey-coloured stone houses positively gleam after a spring shower, and daffodils erupt in fields like a secret society flashing their golden badges. Now, I wouldn’t be entirely truthful if I said the weather is guaranteed sunshine and picnics. April in the Cotswolds can be a bit of a gamble, a delightful game of “will it rain, won’t it?” But fear not, intrepid traveller, for even the most stubborn drizzle can’t dampen the charm of this quintessential English escape.
Picture this: You’re nestled in a cosy pub with exposed beams thicker than your arm. Outside, a light patter dances on the windowpane, while inside, a roaring fire crackles merrily. You sip steaming tea (or perhaps a pint of something stronger, no judgement here) and nibble on a scone the size of a small planet, its surface glistening with clotted cream and jam. The locals, rosy-cheeked and sporting waxed jackets, chat about the vicar’s prize-winning marrows (apparently, it’s a fierce competition) and you feel a warmth spread through you that has nothing to do with the fire.
Now, the rain might put a pause in your grand plans of conquering every hiking trail. But fret not, for this is your chance to embrace the “slow travel” movement (unintentionally, of course). And for goodness sake, pop into a tearoom with flowery wallpaper and indulge in a cream tea so decadent, you might need a lie-down afterwards.
The truth is, the Cotswolds in April are a reminder that sometimes, the most magical moments are born out of spontaneity. Embrace the unexpected downpours, revel in the cosy pub culture, and don’t be surprised if you find yourself humming a jaunty tune about rolling hills and freshly baked scones. After all, a little rain never hurt anyone, especially when it comes with a generous helping of charm.

We have Easter of course in the early part of the month and the clocks "spring" forward so we're looking forward to this lighter nights.
We are busy again this month, particularly with the half term holidays in the mix as well. I've gone through our listings and pulled out all of the properties below that has availability but if there is anything we've not covered feel free to ring Meg, Jo or Adele on 01285 701307!
There really are some great bargains here - Serendipity, At WatersEdge and Maricor, all brand new builds have availability in April. Stonemason's offers something different - based in the village of South Cerney and walking distance from some great pubs, restaurants and cafes.
We also have some availability on Little Horseshoe Lake, (willow, waterlily, island, boathouse and pond) a private nature reserve in the Water Park.
Also check out Summer Lake - this is brand new to us and is going live in April - 4 bedded right on the lake with private mooring and is a stunning 3 storey New England style home.
