Asha’s Indian Kitchen at the Crown in Cerney Wick

The Crown at Cerney Wick ‘Asha’ meaning ‘Hope’ and ‘Prospect’are located at the Crown in Cerney Wick, just a mile or so from our homes on Waters Edge. Asha are part of the Relish group that have a number of restaurants and cafes in the area including the Waterside Kitchen, Relish cafe and the Old Prison at Northleach. Asha’s is one of our favourite places to eat with their menus being a great mix of classic and contemporary Indian food so generally something for everyone. The Crown has been around for many years and is also a very traditional pub with a lovely log fire with plenty of seating outside the restaurants. In the summer outside seating is also an option. Staff are always friendly and extremely helpful – the restaurant tends to get very busy so booking is always a good idea! Details can be found here

Wine Tasting Experience

Organising a special occasion or birthday? Or maybe an alternative and fun way to entertain or spend time with friends or family? We’ve had the pleasure of Chris’s company on a few occasions now and each time he comes up with some great wines for us to taste. Check out their website – they also have a number of events going on great venues in Cheltenham but if you’ve never tried a wine tasting evening before then we can highly recommend it. You might even combine it with crisp tasting as well! See below for the photos from hood most recent visit to Waters Edge. Favourite wines from the tasting were the art of wine, Lodi Zinfandel from @waitrose_cheltenham. Ripe black cherry and plum with a touch of spice. The @thewinesociety1874 English white was also a hit. This white blend is made especially for the society by @threechoirsvineyard in Gloucestershire and is a refreshing, aromatic wine with elderflower aromas with grapefruit and lime on the palate.

Try a night out at the theatre ....

The Barn Theatre

For our guests who have a flair for the theatrical or simply enjoy a captivating evening of entertainment, we wholeheartedly recommend the Barn Theatre in Cirencester. Nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, this boutique venue has grown to become one of the UK’s most exciting professional theatres. Having personally visited the Barn Theatre several times, we can attest to the sheer brilliance of the productions and the warm, intimate ambiance of the venue. Every performance feels exclusive, giving you an immersive experience that resonates deeply, be it drama, musicals, or comedy. Over the past couple of years we have seen a number of productions including around the world in 80 days, girl on a train and the Mozart question – all memorable evenings. But it’s not just the top-notch performances that enchant. The theatre’s setting, a sensitively converted 1940’s Nissen hut, brims with character and history. It mirrors much of the charm we find throughout the Cotswolds, blending tradition with contemporary flair. A mere stone’s throw from our retreats at Cotswold Water Park, a night at the Barn Theatre promises an enriching blend of culture and entertainment amidst the serene beauty of our countryside. Also the Barn is the local cinema as well – check out their website for what’s on and at what time! Sherlock Holmes has just finished to huge acclaim (from our neighbours!) and this is followed up by Constellations from the end of March until late May. At the end of May is Midsummer, a play with songs! A romantic comedy set in Edinburgh! We’ve got our tickets already! Through the summer we’ll have “Some mothers do have ’em” so there will be plenty of berets and trench coats on show! And don’t forget to swing by their stylish bar for a pre-show cocktail or a post-performance discussion. We can’t wait for you to experience the magic of the Barn Theatre and share your stories with us!

House Rules

We try to flexible and not to put too many constraints on our guests but we are also committed to looking after our homes.

We welcome up to 2 pets in Serendipity but talk to us about your plans. Always let us know if you plan to bring pets (there is a small charge per pet) as we need to factor it into our cleans. We do not allow pets into the bedrooms and particularly onto beds. We recognise that keeping pets off the furniture is a challenge so you will find throws available to use please

No parties, hen nights or stag nights – this really isn’t the place for loud parties as many of the homes on this lake are occupied by year round residents. Unfortunately due to a number of past experiences we do not allow all male occupancy of our homes. Sorry guys!

And that’s really it – tell us about breakages so that we can replace where necessary. Larger damage and specialist cleaning we will need to discuss with you if necessary.

We just ask that you treat our home with respect and that you consider our neighbours when you are on the decking in particular as sound does travel a lot further over water.

We loved our stay - gorgeous house, fun decor and very even-sized bedrooms. Lovely touches like Elemis toiletries in the bathrooms, and a brilliant online guide
