Embark on a journey to Mallard Lodge, our pioneering haven nestled on the serene banks of Waters Edge. This wonderful lodge marks the beginning of our story in the Cotswold Water Park, a story of vision, growth, and the creation of a truly special retreat. Originally christened as Waters Edge, Mallard Lodge became the progenitor of what would blossom into a collection of unique escapes, each with its own defining characteristics.

The transformation of Mallard Lodge is a tale of creativity and evolution. Graced by the imaginative touch of Banjo Beale, the winner of Alan Carr’s Interior Design Masters, the lodge underwent a remarkable metamorphosis. Banjo’s vision brought to life an interior that marries the rustic allure of the Cotswolds with contemporary flair, creating an ambience that’s both inviting and stylish. Unlike its sister lodge, the more feminine Kingfisher, Mallard Lodge has been set for a more balanced, country-inspired elegance that appeals to all.

Our journey with Mallard Lodge has been one of continuous improvement and love. Recognising that true comfort goes beyond aesthetics, we evolved from the lodge’s original quirky charm, with its striking yellow kitchen and “lived-in” furniture, to a more refined and welcoming blue palette complemented by new, comfortable furnishings. These changes reflect our deep commitment to providing not just a visually stunning experience, but also one that offers the warmth and comfort of home.

Mallard Lodge is more than just a property; it’s a testament to our passion for creating spaces where memories are made. It embodies the essence of the Cotswold Water Park with its blend of countryside charm and modern elegance. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life or a cosy base to explore the natural beauty of the Cotswolds, Mallard Lodge offers an unparalleled experience.

We invite you to discover the magic of Mallard Lodge, where every stay is infused with the history, heart, and soul of our journey. Here, amidst the tranquil beauty of the Cotswolds, you’ll find a home away from home that’s lovingly crafted for your enjoyment and relaxation. Join us at Mallard Lodge, and let the serene waters and lush landscapes of Waters Edge envelope you in the unique charm of the Cotswolds.

The Lodge at Lake 12

The lodge at lake 12 is one of our favourite stopping off points at the end (or even the start) of a busy day on the lake. I can certainly vouch for their oat milk flat white and flapjacks having had them numerous times whilst getting our lodges ready for guests. The log fire in the cafe was something of a magnet during a cold winter. The lodge has only been around for a couple of years – slightly delayed during COVID but now a regular hive of activity. It has both indoor and outdoor seating and is dog friendly inside and out. The seating outside provide some great views across their lake and there is nothing quite like seeing those colourful sails billowing out across the lake. The lodge has great coffee, friendly staff and serves a variety of snacks, cakes and sandwiches. They now also provide a street food menu which is worth trying – basically its different foods from around the world There is plenty of parking and you will find an eclectic group of customers there from locals, dog walkers, cyclists, water sport enthusiasts and many, many more.,

Asha’s Indian Kitchen at the Crown in Cerney Wick

The Crown at Cerney Wick ‘Asha’ meaning ‘Hope’ and ‘Prospect’are located at the Crown in Cerney Wick, just a mile or so from our homes on Waters Edge. Asha are part of the Relish group that have a number of restaurants and cafes in the area including the Waterside Kitchen, Relish cafe and the Old Prison at Northleach. Asha’s is one of our favourite places to eat with their menus being a great mix of classic and contemporary Indian food so generally something for everyone. The Crown has been around for many years and is also a very traditional pub with a lovely log fire with plenty of seating outside the restaurants. In the summer outside seating is also an option. Staff are always friendly and extremely helpful – the restaurant tends to get very busy so booking is always a good idea! Details can be found here

House Rules

We try to flexible and not to put too many constraints on our guests but we are also committed to looking after our homes.

We welcome up to 2 pets in Waters Edge but talk to us about your plans. Always let us know if you plan to bring pets (there is a small charge per pet) as we need to factor it into our cleans. We do not allow pets into the bedrooms and particularly onto beds. We recognise that keeping pets off the furniture is a challenge so you will find throws available to use please

No parties, hen nights or stag nights – this really isn’t the place for loud parties as many of the homes on this lake are occupied by year round residents. Unfortunately due to a number of past experiences we do not allow all male occupancy of our homes. Sorry guys!

And that’s really it – tell us about breakages so that we can replace where necessary. Larger damage and specialist cleaning we will need to discuss with you if necessary.

We just ask that you treat our home with respect and that you consider our neighbours when you are on the decking in particular as sound does travel a lot further over water.

A beautiful house in a peaceful location. Stayed here for our ‘mini moon’ after our wedding, and it definitely hit the brief! The right amount of luxury that still feels homely.
Everything was just perfect, had the best time.
My favourite part of the house- the hot tub on the decking overlooking the lake 👌🏻

Had a really nice time at this place. The house has quite unique architecture, with huge windows and an incredible view. The well-designed interior and lakeside area are stunning, and the height of the ceiling — uh, wish we had this at home! It feels very special and sets the right mood for relaxation. We had a lot of fun observing the local wildlife and using the hot tub.
